Hello there!
I have been very lazy and not added to my blog for quite some time! I resolve to try harder!
I had my creative juices prodded by this weeks challenge at 'Less is More' .
Here is the brief:

Week 91 Sketch 7

We haven't had many sketches since beginning "Less is More". It's difficult to think of original designs which can be interpreted in a variety of ways, yet keeping to the Clean and Simple ethos.
We have one for you this week which consists of  band down the card which in turn is sub-divided into three sections.
You may add a sentiment if you wish and the sketch can be rotated if that orientation inspires you.
We must be able to spot the original, simple sketch however.
And here is my card!:
I have to admit my home looked like a bombsite after making this card!I couldn't stop experimenting with new things !So I embossed, the shades of card with hearts and then picked out lettering with an embossing pen and heat embossed with WOW vanilla white. I used the same powder to emboss the scrolls, and tried my new posca pen to make stitches!
Lastly a happy birthday sentiment embossed in Bark WOW powder on corresponding card tones.
Great fun!
Whilst I was in the mood I made this photo frame! The butterfly is made from grunge paper..my new toy.

So that is it for today!

Wed 12th August

Hello everyone!
I have been away for quite a few weeks having hospital visits and visiting Texas! It was a long journey from the UK but worth it! I attended  the National Scleroderma Patient Conference there and learnt so much,as well as making new wonderful friends who also suffer with Scleroderma. It was 42 Degrees..phew!
So back home and it is raining so time to make another card for this weeks 'Less is More' Challenge !
This week the theme is
ONE LAYER CARD
and this time the subject of your creations should feature
FUR or FEATHERS
(This should give you plenty of scope.)
As ever, please don't forget that white space and keep any embellishments to a minimum.

And here is my offering with thanks to a very sweet home sweet home stamp set. I used my favourite buffing with distress inks making stencils by tearing paper for the grass. And a touch of sakura gelly roll pen in red star for the heart.

I hope this post finds you all well and happy! And just for an added extra smile..my nephew Sam's marvellous hairdo!

With love and light xxx

Tuesday 17th July

Hello!
What an unusual day..the sun was shining!!Yeah!
This week's  'Less is More Challenge' has kept me busy this evening!
"It is a one layer challenge to include three of anything that is, three colours, three images, three stamps, three words, the number three.... it's up to you, but don't forget the white space, a simple design and just one layer!"
I so happened to have on loan three gorgeous little cuttlebug embossing folders, sweet little heart shapes!
I lined them up..just and after embossing went over with a finger dauber and distress ink in old paper..plus a little accenting with my sakura clear star pen.
I had fun!
Here's hoping for less rain and some more sun on my face!
With Love
Alex

"Less is More"
header as the inspiration for this challenge.

I have taken the colour palette and scroll influence and fiddled away with a spellbinders die, distress ink in tea dye, black archival ink and some scroll stamps by ..mmmm...by....oh dear I'll get back to you on that! And finally my favourite Sakura Clear Star pen!

I hope today is a good day for everyone!

Monday 28 May 2012

Hello All!
Time for another 'Less is More' Challenge !
This week the challenge is this:

We have a very simple recipe this week and that is simply to make a card which is
NOT A SQUARE
nor a rectangle for that matter.
What we're really trying to say is that we want a shaped card.

And here is my rather strange effort! It is the first time I have tried to shape a card using a Spellbinders Die and I made quite a few mistakes I can tell you, cutting out bits I didn't want to and so on!But the result is interesting and I used the cut outs as masks to add some distress interest! ( with the colour 'spiced marmalade).Very sparkly gemstones from papermania!Oh and that is my darling cat Jessie! He is completely wonderful!Thank you to all the lovely crafters that have left positive messages and comments..I can't quite work out how to respond to you individually, but will keep trying! With love and warm sunshine :) x

Wednesday 16 May 2012

Good morning!
Another entry for the 'Less is More Challenge'!
This week the brief is to produce a :
ONE LAYER CARD
This time we have the stipulation to
USE THREE STAMPS
not four, not two... but 3!
And here is my effort!I used a grass stamp (with peeled paint distress ink),and a separate flower head stamp (with mustard seed distress ink) and finally the sentiment was stamped with ranger archival black ink.
I loved doing it !

And this is a picture of a very sweet bee stamp I bought for £1.50 from cart-us stamps!I adore bees and they are so important to our planet..
And I have met the man who mysteriously left an orchid on my car..he is rather lovely and 6ft 5!!And lastly here is a picture of my new nephew :) x

Monday 7 May 2012

Hello everyone!Today is a wonderful day!At 10.44am I became an Aunty,and it feels great :)
And I am having a go at this weeks 'Less is More' Challenge  .
It is all about the colour Yellow, and I don't know about you but I could do with some sunshine!
My card is made with a sweet stamp that I have had for ages and can't remember where it came from sadly, papermania rhinestones, versa colour in Canary which I stamped with and distressed the edge with and ranger distress ink in Tea Dye,the sentiment was stamped in Ranger Archival in Sepia and I went over it with a brown staedtler fine liner!Ooooh and of course a yellow glitter pen! What fun!
And to make my day complete an Orchid was left with a card on my car from an admirer...addressed "To the girl in the Sandwich Bar".I did have an egg sandwich in a sandwich bar on Saturday and spoke to a lovely man..oooohhhh! I've still got it!
Back to business..here is my card..

Lots of Love Alex xxxxxxxxxxx

Sunday 22 April 2012

Here is my first entry for the  'Less is More' Challenge !
The brief is:

Week 64 Theme - How Charming

As we are being sponsored by The Ribbon Girl this month, we thought that we would have a challenge whereby you could use some of the products you might find in her store.
She has a mighty array of charms, perfect for that subtle embellishment on a Clean and Simple card, plus all manner of wonderful ribbons and trims.
Just as we don't always make One Layer Cards, we don't always want to make cards completely devoid of embellishment, the key is to keep it minimal... to enhance not overpower.
SO our theme this week is
How Charming!
Make and/or use a charm on your project

I embossed Ranger Polysparkle powder onto a sweet heart stamp I had, then made a little frame and stamped Love you onto a cream circle, very subtley distressed the edge and threaded my little silver heart onto red organza ribbon, threaded it through a little hole and stuck on a satin ribbon!
I am a complete novice at blogging so hope very much it is seen by the great team there! Now how do I turn off word verification .......may need a cuppa and chocolate biscuit in order to get brain going ;).I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

12th April 2012!First Blog

Hello all!
Here is my very first blog..and I feel rather excited!
This is a journal that I made from scratch. It is size 8 Inch x 8 Inch, and has already gone to a loving home, but I thought I would share it with you.I have to get used to making a note of which papers and inks I used so that you can try them out,but I didn't do it for this one I'm afraid.Rest assured that Distress Inks were used along with a selection of "Flourishes and Scrolls".
I learnt so much doing it,and am already on to the next one...let me know what you think! All constructive criticism welcomed :).

Things used(that I can remember the name of!):We are Memory Keepers Crop-a-dile and eyelets; papermania rhinestones;Tim Holtz blank tag;Tim Holtz Distress Inks and blending pads;Chipboard shapes by Dovecraft; Cosmic Shimmer Pearl Drops and my imagination!
